Aim of the workshop
This workshop is aimed at analyzing the current situation of the species of Mediterranean trees and shrubs in the current ISTA Rules and promote the development of protocols to ensure the quality of the seed of these species.
Participants will learn the characteristics and reproduction strategies of Mediterranean species. The management of these species and their current status in the ISTA Rules will be covered.

Target Group
Quality managers; laboratory managers and seed testing analysts; researchers with experience or interested in Mediterranean species reproduction biology.

Workshop content
The theoretical background will be given through lecturers. The workshop language is English. Laboratory practices will be held on quality seed testing with Mediterranean species.
During these practices participants will be actively and practically involved.

Preliminary Programme
• Current status and representation of Mediterranean tree and shrub species in ISTA Rules
• Relevance of Mediterranean species in climate change and desertification issues. Need for further study and knowledge of such species
• Special characteristics of Mediterranean species in their reproductive biology
• Specific considerations in seed quality tests for Mediterranean species
• Experiences in dormancy breaking techniques in Mediterranean species
• Proposal of species to be included in the future in the ISTA Rules

Travel information
Madrid Airport Barajas is located 12 km from city center. Terminal 1-2-3 are dedicated to all Airlines companies and Terminal 4 located at 25 km from city center is used for Iberia Airlines and long distance flights mainly. From the Airport you have a shuttle that takes you from the airport to Atocha Railway Station located in Madrid center for 5 euros. Please click here for more details.

Hotel Information
The hotel is located two subway stations away from the University. The metro ticket are included in the fee and will be provided upon arrival.
On the first day you will be guided to the University by someone from the local organising committee. More information will be provided closer to the date of the workshop.

Rooms with breakfast cost €95.00 per night (single) or €105.00 per night (double).

An official course dinner is included in the registration fee.

Registration fees for the workshop
ISTA members (includes ISTA laboratory member staff) EUR 475.00
Non-members: EUR 720.00

The participation fee includes all literature and supporting material for the workshop, lunches and coffee breaks, excursion, workshop dinner, transfer between the workshop venue and hotels (except airport transfer).
It does not include accommodation or meals others than those specified.

The number of participants is restricted to a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 23 participants.

If you would like to attend the workshop please fill in the registration form. An invoice will be sent to you, which has to be paid before the participation confirmation will be generated.
You can pay by credit card upon individual request to the ISTA Secretariat.

Registration and payment deadline is 15th April 2014.

For cancellations made before 15th April 2014 registration fees are refundable less EUR 50 administration fee.
For cancellations made after 15th April 2014 registration fees are non-refundable.
